The Day The Movies Died

The local ABC affiliate reported on last night's 10:00 news that the Boulevard Drive in had been closed for the season .... and possbly forever because of last Friday's Flooding. Wes Neal, the owner, was interviewed and he reminisced about the many floods and clean-ups he's endured through the years and his hope to make it 2 more years until he is 70 hears old.

He started working at the drive in in 1954

I hope he keeps it alive for a couple more years. I will certainly miss the Boulevard. I hear 1-70 in Independence is even better, it has 4 screens and apparently costs the same as the B.

I have also heard that the Boulevard is more of a family drive-in than the INdependence one. I hope someone is willing to try to keep it open.

That is sad. With today's projectors, one can almost set up a drive-in anywhere... But the nostalgia is the key...

Hopefully they will be able to clean it up again. Maybe spread more Dirt..

Don't forget the Golden Sunrise each morning as the Wind Roams across the parking area. ;)

Hopefully they will be back in business by the Vernal Equinox, otherwise A Forrest may have grown up in its place.

I saw that last night.
Sad, so sad.
He had to close early last year for the same reason.
I hope he reopens it, because independence is a drive.

I never made it down there. It was always guy night or something. Maybe there will be a resurrection by the time I'm able to go again.
