I downloaded the 'Jamdat' version of Yachzee Deluxe onto my Samsung phone when I got in a few months ago. It provides a nice distraction while waiting for a meeting or when you just need a mental check out for a few minutes. Since, I'm the only to use my phone - all of the high scores are mine ... I usually enter the day of the week that I played the game on. so far, Wednesday's are in the lead in overall average scoring - but something special happened today.
Today I hit 506
Keep in mind that this is a single 13 turn Yachtzee game. There's no sneaky-sneaky balancing out your bad rolls across 6 collumns to keep your bonus. My average game is around 275, so this was huge! I've been trying to figure out what the highest possible score is ... and so far it looks like 714 if you allow 3 100-point bonus Yachtzees and a yachzee to take the place of small straghts, large straights, and the full house. That would be 13 straight Yachtzees (as follows)
1 yachzee each in: 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, & 6s
3 yachtzees in 6s to max out the points in 3 & 4 of a kind and chance
4 more yachtzees of any number to earn your inital 50 point yachzee, and the straights/house.
I've never done this well with real dice. I wonder if the game is 'loose' with it's yachzees or if I just play it more often - making this kind of a score a more statistically expected possibility. I don't think that I'm playing any smarter that when I was 12.

Is there a strategy to Yachtzee? Isn't it just the luck of the dice? If there is a score sheet, then the strategy would be knowing what column to put a certain roll in.
At work we have been playing online poker. With the number of full houses and straights I have seen I am convinced the randomizer that picks the cards is off a little.
Not to rain on the 506 high score of yours. :)
Good job! I have to admit, I get higher scores with the randomized games overall. But still 506 is an accomplishment!
I think that there is some strategy in knowing what to keep/roll to maximize possible points vs possible points
...speaking of "possible points" isn't it about that time again? Do they eat Guacamole in Guatemala?
We've been doing puzzles but I miss game night with everyone. Though yahtzee is scary for me, it involves numbers....
