I know many of us - especially Dust have posted before about those odd moments when one world seems to bump into another. I have those moments just like everyone else - but this weekend it seems a bit surreal.
I'm taking about 15 boys and 8 other Royal Rangers commanders to the Kansas State Pow-Wow. This is the big one! Nearly all of the outposts from across the state will be attending. We camp, we sing songs, we cook hot-dogs ...... we compete in gruling immunity challenges to see who will get voted of the island next......
Yep - my Survivor fandom is intersecting with Royal Rangers. This year's campout is all about Survivor ... from the cardboard canoe race, to the souvineer patches. They are starting fires with flint and steel, answering questions on chalkboards, and even doing that cool Fire/Water teeter-totter challenge.
Apparently my worlds were not entirely segregated, since I was somehow considered a good resource for survivor info. Saddly they won't be going with my idea for the final challenge - and they went for hats instead of buffs. Then again, I'm not sure I want to see all the different ways 3rd-6th grade boys would wear them. I'm sure at least some smart-butt would try to do the jenna tube-top thing.
I just hope we don't have a Richard in camp.

Having your brother there with you is another world intersecting. And if C was with you, your dad world would be there also.
I was thinking the same thing when I read this....lol! I thought you were going to tell a story about going camping with your brother!
Yeah, me too when he told me the title...but this is dash not dirt! He only writes about the "important things" in life! LOL! Rangers and survivor. I wonder if it's possible to go one day in my house without hearing about these two things? Oh, yeah there is....This Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005!! It's a Ranger/Survivor free zone! Too bad dash will miss it all! :) :) :) :)
The only thing missing is the gross food challenge.
When you have some control over how your worlds intermesh things are fine. When you don't it's best to sit back and wait till the dust *smirk* settles, then sort things out.
That sounds like fun! I will be in that world soon enough when the boys get older. Maybe you can pass on some of your skills.
Not one Richard in the whole group - that's disappointing.
